Supporters Call for Arrest of Individual Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Loyal followers of the pop star are calling for that a man who leaped a barrier and seized the performer during the recent Wicked: For Good launch be arrested or expelled from Singapore.
A viral footage shows the individual from Australia pushing past media personnel and charging at Grande while the cast made its way down a event pathway flanked by fans.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo immediately guided the surprised star away from Mr Wen, who was observed being led away of the event by security officers.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "let go after being detained", though legal records indicated that he was scheduled to be present on the next day. It is uncertain if he was formally accused.
Record of Disruptions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Troll Most Hated", has crashed a performance. His Instagram feed includes videos of him disturbing other high-profile occasions, including rushing the platform at the artist's Sydney performance in recently and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers event in the area last December.
"Measures must be taken taken against him as this is clearly a punishable act," commented an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen shared of his act.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" a different Instagram user remarked.
Supporters Express Concern Over the Star's Past Trauma
Numerous followers blamed Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had spoken of dealing with PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at the conclusion of her May 2017 concert in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and injuring hundreds.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented a further response on Instagram.
A number of fans also criticised security officers at the premiere for not being adequately prepared; while others called for online networks to ban Mr Wen's videos.
Reaction and Event Details
In videos spreading on the internet, Grande appeared shocked when she was approached by the intruder. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was led out by security.
Grande has not issued a statement on the event, and the premiere activities proceeded as normal.
Many of supporters had gathered in a mass of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good international launch in a Singapore venue, including a number who had queued for as long as eight hours before it started.
The motion picture, to be launched on November 21, is the sequel of a two-film adaptation of the well-known stage show Wicked, which centers on the unexpected relationship between two very different witches.
The show itself is a spin-off of the twentieth-century children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the character Glinda Glinda, was dressed in a rosé sequin dress at the gathering while Erivo, who acts as the wicked witch, wore a elegant ensemble featuring roses.
They were accompanied by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the top-earning motion picture of 2024 in the UK, and earned ten Oscar nominations, earning several for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
