Trump Invites Relatives of Shot Guard Personnel to the Presidential Residence
Former President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has invited the relatives of a Guard member killed last week to attend the presidential home.
He mentioned that he conversed with her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.
Details on the Tragic Event
Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on last Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in grave state.
Gatherings across the state have occurred in their memory.
White House Offer
The president explained he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both soldiers of the state Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” the president informed the press. “And similarly with him, recover or not.”
Public Reaction
Community members gathered over the weekend at Webster County high school in the state to pay respects to Beckstrom.
Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the military unit as part of the president’s government program to support public safety in DC.
Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom
“She was the kind of student that educators desired. She behaved with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that lifted people around her,” Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s previous school, told the media. “She was caring, caring and always willing to support those in need.”
Memorial plans for Beckstrom are still being arranged.
Judicial Steps and Government Adjustments
Officials have charged a 29-year-old Afghan national with one count of murder and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.
The tragedy prompted the government to suspend refugee claims and halt granting entry permits to owners of passports from Afghanistan.
Condition of Andrew Wolfe
The airman, a native of the city, started his military career in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the news agency.
He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey stated on a news program.
Attorney general the attorney general informed Fox News Sunday that she aimed to visit Wolfe’s family.
Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County High in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a military police officer with honor, per the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of kindness and she certainly had bravery,” Morrisey told the crowd at the memorial. “Though her life was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
